HTML??? Coding? Changing fonts, pictures, style, and code….all foreign to me.
This was my very first attempt to try my hand at coding. The web has some fabulous tutorials on how to attempt this. I watched several videos and clicked back and forth between my attempts to create a remix and the tutorials. In the end, I learned a bit and am proud to say I am on my way to understanding programming language.
Below is my first attempt!
My HTML Remix of the Keep Calm Poster:

I chose to use the saying “Stay Calm and Learn On”. This has been my theme throughout my graduate school beginning a new chapter of my career. I intend to print this out as a reminder to myself as I continue to attempt to gain a whole new skill set as I research and study daily.
Reviewing videos and watching tutorials are my saving grace when it comes to code. I don’t know that I would have my first graders work with Mozilla, but we certainly have the students coding in our school and they LOVE it!
I think that all educators should have some knowledge and have the ability to code at a beginner level.
Let’s Talk Code
There is a wealth of knowledge out there in the form of tutorials, articles, and videos to get you started.
I viewed many of the videos….Here are two of my favorites that put coding into perspective and give you a solid base to understand the language behind coding.

Laura-
This week was my first attempt at coding also! And, while it was definitely intimidating at first, the tutorials and videos were very helpful. I totally agree that educators should have some knowledge of coding, even if it’s just the basics. Because it will definitely play a larger role in our students’ lives than it ever played in our own, I really think it’s our responsibility to be somewhat knowledgeable.
